Shockers Rally to Defeat Longhorns

The Halifax Shockers survived a scare in their home opener on Saturday, to rally back and defeat the Saint John Longhorns for a 35-13 win in the first week of MFL action.

The Longhorns took an early 13-0 lead due to two long touchdown passes by QB Reece Roche to WR’s Dave Morell, and Jim Mather, and a fumbled snap by the Shockers on their first drive.

However it wasn’t long before Halifax ’s offence got in gear, and they rallied behind two touchdown receptions by Duncan Raymond and a touchdown run by Terry Holland to take a 21-13 halftime lead.

In the second half it was more of the same, as the Shockers defence kept getting stops, and Shockers QB Chris Livingston kept throwing touchdown passes. AJ Tufford made the game 28-13 in the third quarter with his touchdown reception, and in the fourth quarter Livingston hit Raymond again for his third touchdown reception of the game, to put the game out of reach 35-13.

Next week the Shockers travel to Fredericton to take on the Gladiators.
